1. Archers shoot a normal WA 720 round. A 6-arrow end will be timed at 4 minutes 240 seconds.
2. All compound archers will shoot an 80cm target face (except U16 and U14 shoot 122cm face), while all recurve and barebow archers will shoot a 122cm face per WA ruling for age groups.
Time:
7:00am – registration & bow inspection
8:00am – practice commences
There will be 3 Practice Ends then straight into Scoring Ends.
There will be a short break after the first 36 and 72 arrows.
After the first 72 arrows, the archer will compete in the SOPA Cup Matchplay as per their age distance.
Each archer will shoot 3 arrows in their age division and a scoreboard will be placed on each archer’s target. Each target shall have 2 archers in the same bow type. For the total score of 3 arrows if an archer shoots a 25 score is considered a neutral score which is 0. Is an archer scored 26 = 1 point, 27=2 points, 28= 3 points, 29= 4 points and 30= 5 points. However negative scoring also applies. If an archer shoots a score of 24 = -1, 23 = -2 and so on. The winner will be the archer with most positive points in each bow type after 10 ends and the WINNER is not gender specific.
If there are ties, the winner will be determined by the highest number of Xs. If there is still a tie then judges will have to call for a tiebreaker shoot in each event.
The winner of the event from each bow type will accumulate their points to win the SOPA Cup at the end of the year. At the end of the year medals and prizes will be awarded to 1st , 2nd and 3rd place. The SOPA Cup trophy can only be awarded if there will be at least 4 competitors in each bow type.
For each event and each bow type:
1st place = 3 points
2nd Place = 2 points
3rd place = 1 point
This is a AA registered event, Australian and State records are claimable.

Scoring:
- Scoring will be undertaken using a paper scorecard (one per archer) and an electronic device (one per target) using Archers Diary, a competitor from each target must provide an electronic device for scoring.
- Each archer must be registered and listed in Archers Diary.
- If an archer is not listed in Archers Diary their entry will not be accepted until such time as the archer’s club registers the competitor in Archers Diary. It is not the responsibility of the tournament organiser or ASNSW to register an archer in Archery Diary.
- If an archer is not registered in Archers Diary the host will send the archer a reminder email and it will be archers’ responsibility to ensure their club registers them into Archers Diary by the 11.59pm, 12 May 2022

Archers shoot a normal WA 720 round. A 6-arrow end will be timed at 4 minutes 240 seconds).
All compound archers will shoot an 80cm target face except U14 and U18 youth, while all recurve and barebow archers will shoot a 122cm face per WA ruling for age groups. After the first 72 arrows, the archer will compete in the SOPA Cup Matchplay as per their age distance.
After completion of the first 72 arrows there will be a short break and after that archers have the option to compete in the “SHOOT AT YOUR COMMAND DRILL”.
Each archer will draw a colour card from a deck given by the judges. They will then shoot 1 arrow in their age division distance according to the card colour they drew matching the colour of the ring on the target faces.
If the arrow lands on to the matching colour card they drew on the matching colour ring of the target face, the archer will score a point. For example is an archer drew a “RED” card and they shot a 7 or 8 scoring ring on the target they will gain a point. The score will be display on the scoreboard. Scores will be accumulated from each end and the game will end after the 10th end.
Note:
After each end, archers will need to pull out their arrow and return back the colour card to the judges and draw another card on the deck until 10 ends is completed.
The 1st , 2nd and 3rd placing will be determine by the total score after the 10th end in each boy type. If there is a tie, the tie will be determined by 1 arrow shoot off score.
If there is still a tie in score, the winner will be determined by the closest arrow distance to the centre of the target. If there is still a tie then judges will have to call for a tiebreaker shoot again.
The winner of the event from each bow type will accumulate their points to win the SOPA Cup at the end of the year. At the end of the year medals and prizes will be awarded to 1st , 2nd and 3rd place. The SOPA Cup trophy can only be awarded if there will be at least 4 competitors in each bow type.

SOPA Challenge #3 – Sunday 17 August 2025
CONCENTRATION & ENDURANCE

Program:
8.00 am – Bow inspection and registration
9.00 am – Practise commences
All Recurve, Barebow and U14 compound archers shoot 20m on a 122 cm face.
All other compound archers shoot 30m on a 80cm 6 ring face.
Archers will shoot 6 arrows each end within 240 seconds.
After the first 30 arrows archers will be ranked into separate flights based on their total score of 30 arrows
Depending on the number of archers there will be at least 5 archers per flight.
If there is a tie in the ranking of a flight a either shoot off or a coin toss will be called by the judge to determine the archer’s rank.
If a shoot off was called closest arrow to the centre wins the match.
Once archers are sorted out into flights, they will be competing against archers of their same capability in their own flights in the next 30 arrows.
After completing the second 30 arrows in their division archer will receive their ranking position.
All archers will then compete in a “one arrow shoot off” elimination. Lowest score in each flight will be eliminated until the placing of 1st, 2nd and 3rd is determine in each division.
Medals and Awards
Medals will be awarded to winner of each flight in 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions.

SOPA will run QRE’s throughout the year to support archers in attaining qualification scores for national event selections or National Squads such as AARDP, NPS, NRP, NCP, NPP.
Weekend QRE’s – Registrations for each event will open 2 months prior to the event and close on the Thursday leading up to the event.
Weekday QRE’s – Registration Closing date is 2 days before the event
