Ozbow, Novice Archery Program
A great beginners’ program for everybody – the OzBow Program is designed as a Step-by-step performance and reward-based program for new SOPA members irrespective of age, gender or equipment they are shooting.
The program is intended to expose members to low-level social competition and allow them to develop their skills before joining mainstream archery activities. We will coach you at 10m, 20m, and 30m before you can progress to longer distances.
All new members are required to complete at least three sessions with our OzBow instructors before they are permitted to shoot unattended. This is a program for registered SOPA club members only.
OzBow takes place most Saturdays. Please check Archers Diary for start times.

Ground Maintenance
Occasionally the range is closed for maintenance and events. The Sydney Olympic Park Authority generously maintains our range to a very high standard and to do so they must close the range for maintenance occasionally and mow the lawn multiple times a week. We are very lucky to have one of the best clubs in Australia, but it does take time to upkeep. The committee will endeavour to notify members of any range closures in a timely manner however. As closures are weather-dependent they can be with minimal notice.
Supporting our developing and high-performance archers
As part of the Archery NSW community, we need to support various state and national events and programs. With such a high calibre of archers, many of these events and programs are filled by mostly SOPA members and it is good to support our community where possible. The committee does understand the frustration of having to close the range for these events however we will work on notifying members of range closures as far in advance as possible.
Events
For events, the range will be closed but for programs will endeavour to only partially close the range (depending on participation numbers).
For Saturday’s club shoot (6 am to 1 pm) there is occasionally space available on the left side of the range for a couple of archers to practice but this is not guaranteed.
