SOPA Cup Series

The Sydney Olympic Park Archers (SOPA) Matchplay program, known as the SOPA Cup Series, revolutionises traditional archery by offering inclusive competition for all ages, addressing a longstanding gap in junior and novice archer development.

Engaging over 2,000 archers across NSW, it fosters participation, confidence, and strategic thinking. The program has significantly boosted engagement and created a sustainable funding model, enabling further growth. Its scalable format positions it as a national blueprint, preparing athletes for international success, including Brisbane 2032. Beyond sport, it strengthens community ties through inclusivity, volunteerism, and personal development, promoting active lifestyles and social cohesion across broader society.

However negative scoring also applies. If an archer shoots a score of 24 = -1, 23 = -2 and so on. The winner will be the archer with most positive points in each bow type after 10 ends and the WINNER is not gender specific.

If there are ties, the winner will be determined by the highest number of Xs. If there is still a tie then judges will have to call for a tiebreaker shoot in each event.

The winner of the event from each bow type will accumulate their points to win the SOPA Cup at the end of the year. At the end of the year medals and prizes will be awarded to 1st , 2nd and 3rd place. The SOPA Cup trophy can only be awarded if there will be at least 4 competitors in each bow type.
