Vision Statement
At Sydney Olympic Park Archers (SOPA), you belong on the line. We are dedicated to creating a welcoming, barrier-free home where archers of every ability are respected, empowered, and supported from taking your very first shot to standing on a world championship podium.
We believe archery is a sport for everybody, every background, and every identity. Situated on the traditional lands of the Wann-gal people of the Eora Nation, SOPA leverages its Olympic and Paralympic legacy to foster an accessible, safe, and culturally respectful community.
Our Inclusive Community Focus
SOPA explicitly welcomes, respects, and provides dedicated support for:
- People with Physical, Sensory, & Intellectual Disabilities: Wheelchair users, amputees, athletes with limb differences, blind and vision-impaired archers, Deaf/hard-of-hearing athletes, and participants with intellectual disabilities.
- Neurodivergent Archers: Autistic individuals, ADHDers, and neurodivergent participants who thrive with sensory-friendly coaching, predictable routines, and patient, clear instruction.
- First Nations Communities: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, through active cultural safety commitments, community outreach, and sporting pathways for Indigenous youth.
- Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Communities: Multicultural families, migrants, and refugees, supported through clear visual instruction, translated guides, and inclusive club culture.
