At Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA), our dedication to the community begins with a clear, non-negotiable vow: the safety and emotional wellbeing of every child in our care is our highest priority.
In complete alignment with Sport Integrity Australia’s (SIA) Child Safeguarding Framework, we uphold a zero-tolerance culture toward child abuse, exploitation, and misconduct. We recognize that creating a safe, inclusive environment is not just a policy obligation; it is a shared ethical duty requiring vigilance from our entire team.
We pledge to:
Enforce Strict Standards: Diligently apply mandatory child-safe practices across all physical and online spaces.
Proactively Minimize Risk: Maintain rigorous screening, including mandatory Working with Children Check (WWCC) verifications for all volunteers, members, and staff, alongside annual risk assessments.
Empower Voices: Listen to children, respect their diverse needs, and ensure clear, transparent pathways to report concerns without fear.
Through continuous education and strict compliance with national principles, SOPA commits to providing a protective, vibrant sanctuary where children and young people can confidently play, learn, and thrive. Every child has the right to be safe, all the time.
How to Report Concerns or Breaches
If a child is in immediate danger, you should always call 000 (Police). For other safeguarding issues and concerns, use these official reporting channels:
Contact club Members Protection via mpio@sopa-archery.org.au
Department of Communities and Justice: Call the Child Protection Helpline at 132 111 if you suspect a child is at significant risk of harm.
Sport Integrity Australia: Report integrity and child safety concerns relating to SIA-affiliated staff or programs by emailing reporting@sportintegrity.gov.au or using the online Sport Integrity Australia Report an Issue Form

Parent & Guardian Attendance Policy: Children Under 14
Important Notice for Parents and Guardians
To ensure the safety, well-being, and proper supervision of all young shooters, all members and visitors under the age of 14 must have a parent or legal guardian remain on the range and present for the entire duration of their session.
Supervision Requirement:
Children under 14 cannot be dropped off or left unattended at the range. A parent or designated adult guardian must stay on-site until the session ends and the child has left the range area.
Role of Instructors & Range Officers:
Our Range Officers and instructors are responsible for running the range safely and overseeing shooting activities; they are not responsible for child minding or supervision off the line.
Duty of Care:
Keeping a parent or guardian present ensures immediate support in the event of illness, fatigue, equipment issues, or an unexpected emergency.
