Olympic Archery Legend Kisik Lee Returns to Sydney Olympic Park

Aug 27, 2025

Sydney Olympic Park Archery Centre is ecstatic to announce that legendary archery coach, Kisik Lee, has accepted the role of Club Mentor for the Sydney Olympic Park Archers (SOPA). After a remarkable career that included leading Team USA for 18 years, Coach Lee is returning to the very place where his Australian legacy began—the same venue where Simon Fairweather won Australia’s first-ever Olympic archery gold medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Coach Lee’s return marks a monumental moment for the SOPA club and the wider Australian archery community. His decision to settle back in Australia after retiring from his long-standing role with Team USA is a testament to his enduring connection with the country and a deep passion for developing the next generation of archers.

A New Chapter of Inspiration

Known globally for his revolutionary KSL Shot Cycle coaching system, Coach Lee has a proven track record of creating champions. His method, which breaks down the shot into a precise, repeatable sequence, has been adopted by archers worldwide. His influence on Australian archery is undeniable; he played a pivotal role in the success of the Australian Olympic program in the late 1990s and early 2000s, culminating in Simon Fairweather’s historic victory.

In his new role, Coach Lee will not only work with the club’s elite athletes but will also serve as a mentor to the coaching staff, helping to refine their skills and instil his winning philosophy. This is a unique opportunity for SOPA’s athletes and coaches to learn directly from one of the sport’s greatest minds.

Growing the Archery Community

“I am very excited to be back,” said Coach Lee. “Sydney Olympic Park holds a special place in my heart. The facilities here are world-class, and I see a tremendous amount of potential in the athletes and coaches. My goal is to share my knowledge and help continue the legacy of excellence we started here many years ago.”

Coach Lee’s presence will undoubtedly serve as a powerful catalyst for the growth of archery in Sydney Olympic Park. His mentorship will provide invaluable guidance for both aspiring and experienced archers, creating a pathway for them to achieve their full potential. His return offers a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration, solidifying the park’s status as a premier destination for archery development and a hub where future champions can be forged. We look forward to seeing the incredible impact he will have on our club and the future of Australian archery.
